Hi Kate,
I’m glad you liked the photos! I had a ton of fun walking around Nice early in the morning when the streets were still quiet. The vibrant colors of the buildings and ocean were great, plus the position of the sun created interesting highlights and shadows for me to play around with.
For this batch of photos, other than one I did all of the adjustments in Lightroom. Within LR I pretty much just go through all of the parameters I can change (exposure, blacks, WB, vibrance, saturation, HSL, vignetting, etc). I also use split-toning a lot to change the overall colors/mood of the photo.
I was just about to share one of my favorite LR presets, so you might find that helpful. You should be able to follow only with Photoshop, because LR and PS use the same RAW processor (ACR).

While I certainly love a good portion of these, my favourites would have the be the more abstract ones you started introducing towards the end of the post. This one (http://yutowatanabe.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/ywatanabe.20110708.520305989.IMG_9608.jpg) in particular really struck me as beautiful.
Also, question: In terms of post-processing, what are the most common changes/adjustments you make to your photos?
